Apple’s New Software Updates – Upgrade or Avoid?

Jul 16, 2010 by

iPad and iPhone users yesterday (Thursday, June 15) saw an update to their device firmwares.

iOS 3.2.1 for the iPad fixes some usual Apple bug fixes as well as patches up the Spirit exploit so for those of you that wish to jailbreak your iPad, I advise you stay away from the update. iOS 4.0.1 implements AT&T’s bar calculation formula for the iPhone 4. The formula was changed to address the death grip issue many users were experiencing. Though it is a hardware problem, a software update will not fix it and Apple is holding a press conference today at 11:00 AM PST to address the iPhone 4. The update is available for the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4 though it is only useful for the iPhone 4. As with the iPad update, I advise you stay away from this as well. In addition, Apple released iOS 4.1b (beta) to developers Wednesday night (June 14) so we could only wait and see what that’ll bring us.
