Is the Twitter for iPhone app missing too many features? Do you find the UI outdated? Then you need to try TwitBird. It’s available for free. Why is it the best? Is it how user friendly the app is? Push notifications (only in Pro and Premium versions)? Speed? All of the above? Definitely.

The free version is ad-supported. Ads show up if you are viewing individual tweets, which is not a huge annoyance. Is it worth paying for? Definitely.

It’s also fast. It loads tweets so quickly you will wonder how you put up with the Twitter for iPhone client.

Graphics: 5/5 – 4 different themes to choose from, light and dark.
UI: 5/5 – Everything is well thought out, it’s very similar to the Mail app. It also has a search function.
Simplicity/Ease of Use: 5/5 – Everything is where it should be, no unexpected crashes.
Creativity: 3/5 – It’s not the first Twitter client, but it’s certainly one of the nicer ones.
Sound: 3/5 – No sounds, which I actually prefer.
Controls: 4/5 – It’s similar to the Mail app in the way the buttons are laid out.
Speed: 4/5 – Faster than most apps, but there are some that go that tiny bit faster (like Twitteriffic).
Connectivity: 4.5/5 – Loads tweets in a flash, hardly any waiting for me.
Entertainment: 5/5 – It makes Twitter for iPhone look like a bag of hammers in terms of fun.
Value: 5/5 – Definitely worth the 2.99.
Total: 43.5/50 or 87% – Overall, it’s a nicely thought out app, with lots of room for improvement, but still lots of great things.
