Firefox 5 publicly available

Jun 18, 2011 by

The final, public version of Firefox 5 has been released ahead of Mozilla’s original June 21 schedule.

For those of you who have been using the Firefox 5 beta for a while know that it is much better than Firefox 4 (in that it has a working refresh button).

This update brings with it performance improvements as well as support for CSS3 animations and transitions. Other, less prominent features include a more visible Do Not Track feature.

If Firefox 5’s public release turns out to disappoint just as Firefox 4 did, we can all switch to the Firefox 6 beta which will be available in two weeks.

After all, Mozilla’s software always seem to work better in beta.
