Intel now selling 1.7-1.8GHz processors for MacBook Airs

MacBook AirThese new 1.7GHz-1.8GHz processors for MacBook Airs are said to have appeared on Intel’s processor price list on Sunday and are faster than most thin laptop processors.

Apple is expected to be using these new processors for their upcoming MacBook Air refresh, an upgrade from old Intel Core 2 Duo processors.

Here are the specifications for the new chips:

  • Core i7-2557M — 1.7GHz (2.7GHz turbo), 2 cores, 17 watts with a 3MB cache — $250
  • Core i7-2637M — 1.7GHz (2.8GHz turbo), 2 cores, 17 watts with a 4MB cache — $289
  • Core i7-2677M — 1.8GHz (2.9GHz turbo), 2 cores, 17 watts with a 4MB cache — $317

These new MacBooks may be released June or July, but Apple may be waiting for the release of Lion before launching these new insanely thin laptops.
