According to a survey, there are way more children under the age of ten who are in possession of a cell phone than previously thought.

Westcoastcloud surveyed two thousand households, and found that 33% percent of children under the age of ten have a cell phone and 10% under the age of ten have a smartphone such as a BlackBerry, iPhone or Android phone. The survey also found that 25% of parents do not monitor their children’s phones and 68% of parents bought their children a phone to keep tabs on them while 17% of parents bought their children a phone because of their children constantly begging for one.

These numbers are truly shocking and provide insight on cell phone use patterns in youth.
