Netflix ends Qwikster after lack of support

Oct 10, 2011 by

If anybody’s begging for a PR crisis, it would probably be Netflix.

Earlier this year, Netflix announced a price increase, about $16/month for unlimited video streaming and physical DVD rentals as opposed to the $8/month that was offered before.

After masses of complaints from users, announcing their plans to leave the service, Netflix’s user base and stock fell dramatically.

The then decided to make an apology for that change, and announced that they would be splitting video streaming and DVD rentals into two different services, operating them independently.

Now, Netflix is changing its mind again, and ending Qwikster before it even began.

Oh boy, Netflix, your PR firm is going to have its work cut out for them.
